Since April 2009, I have a position as PhD student at the School of Textiles in Borås conducting practice-based research in fashion design methodology. The working title of the research is Expressions trough cutting and the public defense calculated to 2014. When I started the researching my intention was to use the Rickard Lindqvist label with its seasonal collections as a part of the empirical research.
My main driving force for the work with the 6 collections produced under my name has been to freely formulate and manage my work.
The work has from the very beginning had an exploratory character, where the studio in Gothenburg, close to the sampling and manufacturing has been at the heart of the business.
During the autumn, I gradually realized that within my Phd I can continue working in this way, but with the opportunity to bring the artistic level of design and development to another level. Hence, the collection for spring 2010 will be the last produced in my name for the foreseeable future.
I want to thank all customers who purchased garments from the collections. Warm thanks also to all of you who somehow have worked with labeln during the last three years. Above all, David Hamilton, without whose partnership the first two years the labeln had never started, John Olsson for each day in the studio, Jimmy Herdberg for the Web, Karin Landahl for good colaboration with the knitted garments, Oskar Andersson for the graphic design, Uno Landberg for the craftmanship on which my practice is based, Emma Fälth for your sharp eye, Ibeyo for your faith in me and Sarabia for your work during the last year. An extra warm thanks also to Clemens Thornquist, Ted Hesselbom, Anna-Stina Linden, Terese Arvidsson, Brigitte Steputtis and Sophie Karlsson.
